Product Description
MBBR media (Moving Bed Biofilm Reactor media) are small, specially designed plastic carriers that float freely in wastewater tanks, providing a large surface area for beneficial microorganisms to attach, grow, and form biofilms, which efficiently break down organic pollutants (BOD/COD) and nutrients (nitrogen) for cleaner water, making it a compact, high-performance solution for sewage treatment, industrial effluent, and water recycling.
How it Works
Biofilm Growth: Media pieces move around the tank, allowing bacteria to colonize their surfaces and form protective biofilms.
Pollutant Removal: As wastewater flows through, the microorganisms in the biofilm consume organic waste, ammonia, and nitrates.
Constant Contact: Aeration keeps the media moving, ensuring wastewater constantly contacts the biofilm for efficient treatment.
Key Benefits
Compact Size: Requires less space than conventional systems.
High Efficiency: Handles fluctuating loads well due to the protected biofilm.
Low Sludge: Produces less excess sludge.
Versatile: Used in municipal STPs, industrial plants (food, pharma, textile), and aquaculture.
